Bushing optimization

Problem Type:
Axisymmetric problem of electrostatics.

Geometry:

Given:
Relative permittivity of ceramic ε = 2.4;
HV conductor potential U = 10 kV
Plate potential 0 V

Problem:
Determine the optimal design of the pass-through insulator.

Solution:
Three cases were simulated to compare the electric field stress values in the air and in the bushing material. Designs include the cylindrical bushing, bushing with a conductive layer on the lateral surface, and a bushing with a conductive layer and a conical tip.
