Impedance Wizard

Impedance wizard helps you to calculate the impedance of your conductors. It is simple and contains only one page. On the left side of the page all your conductors are listed with their current and voltage applied. Icons on the left of labels have the following meaning:

Conductor with zero applied voltage

Conductor with given voltage

Conductor with given current

When your conductor is defined as connected in series (see Block Properties for details), the current in each conductor and the voltage applied to all of them are shown.

To get the impedance value and its real and imaginary parts (resistance and reactance accordingly) the inductance wizard simply divides voltage by current:

Z = U / I ;

R = Re (Z), XL = Im (Z) ;

L = XL / 2πf ,

where Z is absolute value of the impedance and f is the frequency.

If you select more than one conductor at once, the impedance wizard considers it as being connected in parallel if the voltage applied to each of them is equal and as being connected in series otherwise.

Upon pointing the conductor you will get the results automatically. The values are also displayed in the calculator window.

To close impedance wizard, choose the Finish button. After the wizard closed, you can restart it by double-clicking any corresponding item in the calculator window.
