Steps

The changes in the problem definition are specified as a sequence of steps. Each step is an elementary action involving geometry transformation or change of material properties, field sources or boundary conditions of one or several QuickField Model objects. For more complex tasks, step can also consist of several such operations. See Substeps below.

For example, typical steps could be "Move block with label "Alnico Up" 1 cm up". Or, another typical example: "Increase coercive force of the magnet "Alnico Up" by 10%".

There are two kinds of steps: Move step and Change Properties step.

Move Step
Move step is an operation that changes the geometry of the problem. For each operation you can specify:

For example, if you want to move block with label "Alnico Up" 1 cm up, you should specify:

Tip. Rather typical situation is that you would like to move some objects, but they are not marked with any label. In this case you should create some new unique label, and assign it to these objects in QuickField Model Editor.

Change Properties Step

Change Properties step is an operation that changes the label properties, that is, material properties, field sources or boundary conditions. For each operation, you can specify:

For example, if you want to increase the coercive force of the magnet labeled "Alnico Up" by 10%, you should specify:

Notes:
   -  LabelMover cannot modify library data. Library labels will not be displayed for selection in the Set Properties step of LabelMover operations. Therefore, if you want to change properties of the label kept in the Library Data file, you need to copy this label to the Data file first.
   -  You can change the numerical values of the properties only. You cannot change the type of the boundary conditions, type of field source or any other non-numeric label property settings.
   -  For some problems, you can also change the problem properties: frequency, for example.
   -  For problems with coupled circuits, you can also change the propertoes of the circuit elements.

Substeps
For more complex tasks, it can be useful to define step consisting of several Move or Change Properties operations. These operations are called substeps.

Example. Suppose we want to move vertex A 1 cm up, vertex B 1 cm right and vertex C 1 cm left. We want to get results only after all three vertices are moved, without the intermediate results. In this case, we can define a step consisting of three substeps.

Repeating Steps
It is often convenient to specify that some step should be repeated several times.

Example Suppose we want to know, what will happen if we repeatedly move the block A 1, 2, 3, .. 10 cm right. To study it, we can define step "Move block A 1 cm right", and then repeat it 9 times. As a result, we will get a set of 10 QuickField problems generated and solved.

Repeating Step While Possible
It is also often convenient to specify that some step should be repeated while possible. Process will be stopped then the next step may change the problem topology (for example, one edge intersects another one and the intersection point should be added to Vertices, and edges should be split into parts).

Note. If you decided to stop the repetition, it is possible to do it at any moment, just by pressing the Cancel button at the progress bar.
