- What is QuickField?
QuickField is a field simulation software for electromagnetic, heat transfer and stress analysis. See Product > Packages. - Where can I get QuickField?
You can download free QuickField Student Edition or order QuickField Professional or Lite Edition. See Product > Editions. - Do you have instructions for beginners?
Yes, we do. See:
Virtual classroom
Step-by-step tutorials
Webinars.
User manual. - Do you have any examples of QuickField use?
Yes, we have. See Applications > Sample problems. - What is the mesh limit?
Mesh limit depends on the type of QuickField edition. Free Student Edition mesh limit is 255 degrees of freedom. - How to achieve the high accuracy of simulations?
Accuracy of results depends on many factors, but in most cases mesh quality and distance to the outer boundary are most important. Due to mesh size restrictions, it is not always possible to create a good mesh for accurate results with the Student Edition of QuickField. Professional Edition has no artificial mesh limits and allows getting the accurate results in most practical cases.
See Applications > Sample problems > Verification examples. - What affects the speed of solution?
Solution speed depends on computer configuration, material properties and mesh size and quality. QuickField solvers are extremely fast. See Product > Components > Solver. - How to make a good mesh?
Good mesh should be dense enough to have the size of elements agreed with the size of the geometry objects and physics, smooth and without or with minimal number of irregularities, but not unnecessary large to avoid accumulation of the computational errors. QuickField offers many ways to control the mesh, including manual, automatic and iterative mesh refinement. See Virtual Class > Lessons > Model editor movie.
But it is not always possible to create a good mesh with 255 mesh node limit of the Student Edition. You may need Professional Edition for accurate simulation of real engineering problems. - Does QuickField benefit from multicore processors?
Parametric analysis tool LabelMover may start QuickField sessions in parallel. - What material data are provided with the package?
We provide some material properties in our libraries for reference only, with no guarantee of their accuracy. See Downloads > Data library. - On what platforms does QuickField run?
QuickField is a native Windows application. For running it on other platforms, you may use Windows emulators. For example, you may run QuickField on Mac computers using Parallels Desktop for Mac, you may run QuickField on Linux computers using Wine. - How do I order the QuickField Professional Edition?
Professional Edition is sold as commercial software. Both stand-alone and floating network licenses are available. The cost of the license depends on the QuickField configuration chosen, type of your organization and geographic region where you are located.
