Conductor Impedance

Help contents

All conductors with applied (induced) voltages and currents flowing through them are listed on the Conductor Impedance tab in the Side panels. For conductors connected in series, the number of turns is displayed. See Block label property in AC Magnetics for details.

You can use View > Conductor Impedance command to open the tab.
Impedance Wizard

The voltage is divided by the current to determine the impedance value and its real and imaginary components:
Absolute value of the impedance Z = | V / I | ;
argument φ = Arg (V / I) ;
Resistance R = Re (V / I);
Reactance X = Im (V / I).

In case X > 0 the inductance value is calculated L = X / (2π*f),
in case X < 0 the capacitance value is calculated C = 1 / (2π*f * X),
where f is the frequency.
