Advanced Magnetics--Step-by-Step Description: Step 13
To edit material properties and boundary conditions:
You probably noticed that the block and edge labels appeared in the problem view while you have entered them in the model. Icons are supplied with question mark icon, which means that the labels are referenced by the model, but the data for them are not yet defined. Now we'll proceed with assigning data to labels.
To define the data for block label Air:
- Double-click the Air item or click Properties in its context menu. A dialog box appears, prompting to enter material properties and distributed source for block label Air.
- Type 1 in any text box for components of magnetic permeability tensor.
- Click OK.
Analogous to the above steps define the relative permeability and current density of all the coils Coil R+, Coil R-, Coil S+, Coil S-, Coil T+, Coil T-. The total current for the coil slots are as follows: 13.5 A on R+, -13.5 A on R-, 13.5 A on S+, -13.5 A on S-, and zero on T+ and T-. Defining total current rather then current density we must choose Total Ampere-turns radio button. Please note that each phase coil consists of eight conductors connected in series. Each conductor occupies one half of a slot. So choose Several conductors are connected in series radio button.
Next define the relative permeability of the Magnet, relative permeability of Samarium-Cobalt is 1.154. Since we chose to define the coercivity of the magnet through equivalent current sheets at the edges, don't enter any value for the coercive force of the magnet.
