Frequently, the torque has to be calculated for different positions of the rotor, QuickField can easily facilitate such a parametric analysis. In the next steps, we'll show how easy it is to move the rotor assembly to the new position and then run analysis and calculate the torque again. The necessary steps are as follows:
- In the Problem Description tree, double-click the Motor.mod item to bring up the model window.
- Select all the blocks on the rotor assembly, meaning the four magnets and the inner frame.
- Using Move Selection on the Edit menu, rotate all the selected blocks by 45 degrees. Note that the mesh moves with the blocks and only the mesh in the air gap between the rotor and the stator is destroyed.
- On the Edit menu, click Build Mesh and then In Nonmeshed Blocks, then click OK to mesh the air gap region only.
Now, we can solve the problem again and analyze the solution:
- In the Problem Description tree, click Solve Problem on the Edit menu or context menu. You will be prompted to save the changed model to the file.
- Click OK.
Once the problem is solved, the Postprocessor starts automatically and the resulting flux lines for the new configuration of the motor are displayed. Now you can follow exactly the same steps that were explained earlier to calculate the torque. The new value of the torque is 0.52 N·m/m.
