Electrostatics Problem--Step-by-Step Description: Step 8
Now we'll continue with edge labels' data. To define the data for edge label Shield:
- Select its name in the Edge Labels branch and double-click it or click Properties in its context menu. The property editing dialog box appears, allowing assigning to edge label any of possible boundary conditions.
- Click Voltage. Zero value of predefined potential will be suggested.
- Click OK.
To define the data for edge label Strip:
- Double-click its name.
- Click Floating Conductor.
- Click OK.
We need to define the vertex label Charge to assign the charge to the strip. To determine the capacitance, the exact value of the charge does not matter. We'll choose a value of 1.
To define the data for vertex label Charge:
- Double-click its name in the Vertex Labels branch and click Open. A dialog box appears, allowing to specify the charge, or to assign the Dirichlet boundary condition.
- Click Electric Charge and type 1.
- Click OK.
All the data needed to solve the problem is now defined.
