Magneto-Structural Coupling--Step-by-Step Description: Step 6

Help contents

Edge labels are used to define the boundary conditions. For magnetic problem we need to specify only a zero flux condition at outward surface of the solenoid, but to make the model suitable for the stress analysis too, we'll also assign labels to the side edges of the coil. To assign labels to edges:

  1. Double-click the top edge and label it as Outer.

  2. Pick consecutively two side edges of the top rectangle holding down the CTRL key. Those edges become highlighted that indicates the selection. If you have selected excess edge, vertex or block, pick it once more to unselect it. Do not forget to unselect the top edge.

  3. Click right mouse button within selection to bring up the context menu without changing the selection.

  4. On the context menu, click Properties and assign the No axial disp label to selected edges.

  5. Click OK to close the dialog.

Now we have finished with assigning labels to geometrical objects.
