Calculated physical quantities in AC conduction
For AC conduction problems, the QuickField postprocessor calculates the following set of local and integral physical quantities.
Local quantities:
- Complex amplitude of electric potential U;
- Complex vector of electric field intensity E = –gradU
Planar case: \[ E_x = -\frac{\partial U}{\partial x}, \quad E_y = -\frac{\partial U}{\partial y} \]
Axisymmetric case: \[ E_z = -\frac{\partial U}{\partial z}, \quad E_r = -\frac{\partial U}{\partial r} \]
- Complex vector of active jactive=σE,
reactive jreactive = iωε·E
and apparent japparent = jactive + jreactive current density; - Time average and peak active Qactive = jactive·E,
reactive Qreactive = jreactive·E,
and apparent Qapparent = japparent·E power density; - Electric permittivity ε (its largest component in anisotropic media);
- Electric conductivity σ (its largest component in anisotropic media).
