Importing SolidWorks® Sketches

Import SolidWorks Sketch add-in copies the geometric entities from a SolidWorks sketch into QuickField model. The add-in works in two modes:

• If SolidWorks is running and has a sketch activated, the sketch is imported into QuickField - no questions asked.

  Otherwise,

• Add-in brings up the dialog, allowing to select a SolidWorks model file (part or assembly), and then to choose the sketch of interest from the component and feature tree, similar to feature pane in SolidWorks.

To import sketch:

1. Make sure that SolidWorks is running and the sketch you wish to import is activated (in the SolidWorks' Edit or context menu, click Edit Sketch).

2. Back in QuickField, in the Edit menu or context (right mouse button) menu anywhere in the Model Editor window, click Insert SolidWorks Sketch.

3. At this point, the geometric entities from the sketch will appear in the Model Editor window.

Or,

1. In the QuickField's Model Editor window, click Insert SolidWorks Sketch in the Edit menu or context (right mouse button) menu.

2. The dialog appears, allowing to browse your local or network directory structure to SolidWorks model file - part (*.sldprt) or assembly (*.sldasm). Choose the file and click the OK button.

3. Another dialog appears, showing the component and feature structure of the SolidWorks model. Choose the sketch you wish to import and click OK.

If SolidWorks is running, but no sketch is active, only the second dialog appears.

Note: Import SolidWorks Sketch add-in imports geometric entities supported by QuickField, lines and arcs. Splines are not supported and are being skipped.
