Electric & magnetic coupling effects on lines

Webinar recorded on April 15, 2026 with invited speaker Dieter Stotz.

This webinar presents a simulation survey by Dieter Stotz focused on the electric and magnetic coupling effects between individual lines in circuits and traces on PCBs.
The session explores how critical parameters—including conductor size, distance, and geometrical arrangement—influence parasitic coupling, leading to signal distortion in high-impedance digital lines like I²C or sensitive analog sensors.

Through a series of QuickField simulations (AC Conduction and AC Magnetics), the efficiency of various shielding strategies is demonstrated, simulation data is compared with analytical formulas for capacitive and inductive loads, and the impact of frequency and ground plane configurations on overall signal integrity is analyzed.
