Ioan C. Popa

Dr. Ioan Popa received his M.S and Doctor in Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Craiova (Romania) in 1977 and 1997, respectively. In 1999 he specialized in advanced numerical methods in a postdoctoral internship at Ecole Polytechnique in Montréal (Canada).
Since 2003, he holds a position of full professor in Electrical Engineering at Faculty of Electrical Engineering (University of Craiova). Between 2004 and 2012 he was head of Electrical Apparatus and Technologies Department.

His main area of interests are modeling of heat transfer in Electrical Equipment and modeling of the quenching chamber of high voltage SF6 circuit breakers. He is the author of 3 books, 26 scientific papers published in journals and 51 articles presented at national and international conferences.
