QuickField simulation example

This simulation example is prepared by Dieter Stotz as a part of the webinar Basic analysis of magnetic pickup evaluated with QuickField.

Permanent magnet produces a magnetic flux, and the oscillating ferromagnetic a string affects the flux distribution. Flux variation could be detected by the coil. We do not include the coil in the model and calculate the flux directly in QuickField.

Problem Type
Plane-parallel problem of DC magnetics.

Geometry
Magnetic pickup sensor Permanent magnet produces a magnetic flux, and the oscillating ferromagnetic part like a string or a rod is influencing the flux. Flux variation could be detected by the coil. We do not include coil in the model and calculate the flux directly in QuickField. S N Steel string Core Permanent magnet Coil 5 mm 5 mm

Given
Permanet magnet permeability 1000, coercive force 1000 kA/m.
Core, steel string permeability 10000.

Task
Find flux in the core cross-section as a function of the string Y-position.

Solution
The LabelMover tool is used to automate the calculations.

Results
