AC Currents in the live tissue with two needle electrode - QuickField simulation example

This is an example simulation, used by Professor Bertill Persson in preparation of his publication QuickField modelling of electro-pulse-therapy.

Engineering question

How to find electric field between needle electrodes in tissue?

Engineering answer
Set up a plane-parallel QuickField AC Conduction problem for needle electrodes in biological tissue and evaluate electric field distribution from computed field results.

Simulation problem

Problem Type
Plane-parallel problem of AC Conduction.

Geometry
Currents in live tissue Two metal needle electrodes are inserted into the live tissue Shield U+ U- Tissue

Given
Electrical conductivity of the tissue is g = 0.35 S/m
Relative electrical permittivity of the tissue is ε = 9500
Frequency f = 60 kHz.
Potential difference ΔU = 200 V (peak).

Task
Obtain the electric field distribution around the electrodes.

Solution
In QuickField we should specify magnitude and phase of voltage sources. We apply 100V ∠0° to the left electrode and 100V ∠180° to the right electrode.

Results
