Joule heating*
Joule heating is the process of the heat generation due to the passage of an electric current through the conductive media. Joule heating, Joule or Ohmic losses refer to the same phenomena - which may be considered useful or harmful, in different engineering context depending on the application. QuickField is a powerful instrument which allows accurate FEA simulation of Joule heating, including distribution of the Joule losses in the conductive media, temperature fields in and around conductors, and even the structural deformation of the parts of electrical equipment caused by Joule heating.
Joule heating calculated in AC magnetic problems, Transient magnetic problems, DC conduction problems or AC conduction problems may be then automatically taken into account in the Heat transfer problems using a multiphysics problem coupling.
