Leakage flux*

Leakage flux is the part of magnetic flux that does not follow the intended magnetic path and does not fully link all turns of a winding or magnetic circuit. It depends on geometry of the magnetic system, air gaps, spacing between windings, and magnetic properties of surrounding materials.

Leakage flux is important for analysis of transformers, inductors, electric machines, magnetic shields, air-gap devices.

In QuickField, leakage flux can be analysed using DC Magnetics, AC Magnetics or Transient Magnetics.
