Differential transformer
QuickField simulation example
Differential transformer consists of 3 coils and a movable ferromagnetic core. Excitation is supplied to the central (primary) coil, and the output signal is measured on secondary coils.
Problem Type
Axisymmetric problem of AC magnetics.
Geometry
Given
Copper electrical conductivity g = 56 MS/m
Frequency f = 2 kHz
Excitation current I = 0.1 A
Task
Calculate the output voltage as a function of core position.
Solution
Computations are automated using LabelMover tool.
Results
Magnetic flux density distribution and the voltage vs. position dependency.
