Superconducting ring

QuickField simulation example

This is a simulation example of the superconducting ring in the uniform external magnetic field. Example is prepared by Professor James R. Claycomb as a part of the webinar QuickField analysis for Superconductors.

Problem Type
Axisymmetric problem of DC magnetics.

Geometry
Superconducting ring Calculate the magnetic field distribution in case of flux focusing and flux reducing superconducting rings. Superconductor R r

Given
R = 12 cm, R = 30 cm

Task
Calculate the magnetic field distribution in case of flux focusing and flux reducing superconducting rings.

Solution
Uniform external magnetic field is defined by assigning a non-zero vector magnetic potential distribution on the simulation area boundary.
Flux expelling superconducting ring is modelled with zero vector magnetic potential boundary condition. Flux focusing superconducting ring is modelled with zero normal flux boundary condition.
